Eros, The God of Love
C’est lui qui assure la continuité des espèces
This series draws inspiration from nature. I wanted to draw attention to the dance of love between the plant world and the world of birds and insects. It is a complex relationship in which these seemingly different life forms are intertwined. Orchids are my favourite flowers; I simply admire them. Flowers so complex in form and texture, they are very beautiful, with a great variety of colours and an extraordinary complexity of lines and patterns.
All of this inspired me to paint my flowers. In my paintings, they are born in new forms and are intertwined in an erotic dance with a kind of insect or bird. Everything in nature is interconnected: if you look more closely, upon reflection you will see that everything is far more complicated; it is not sex, but eroticism in its purest form. From structure, form, colour and scent, invisible threads intertwine in a dance that continues life. In this dance, there is all the tenderness of touch, the pleasure of the kiss, but also coarseness and cruelty in the face of survival and death.
With these paintings, I invite you to look, to immerse yourself, to take pleasure in them, without seeking any philosophical theme.
